“Just Christian” – that probably offends some believers and I can understand why. You can’t mention Jesus and what he’s done in the same sentence as “just” or “merely”. So let me explain.

“Just Christian” is not meant to in any way downplay Jesus and what it means to know and love him. What it means is that I don’t pretend to be better than anybody else. I’m a sinner with a whole range of issues and faults. The only difference (and it is a massive difference) is I know Jesus personally.

“Just” also means that being or becoming a Christ follower is not as complicated as we often make it. God shows you who He is and you say “Yes”. That’s it. That’s probably what makes Jesus less appealing to a lot of people. Surely we should do more and perform. But no, Jesus does everything and I follow Him.

So that’s what’s behind the name. I’m JUST a guy who knows that he’s loved by God and wants to love him back. JUST that. And that’s just unbelievable.

I started this blog because I want to share the perspective of a believer who searches and yearns, but doesn’t have all the answers. There are plenty of blogs out there, many of them very good, that discuss theology and give advice. These are great and I’m not trying to compete with them. I just find that hearing about another believers doubts and struggles can be just as powerful as their sensationally positive testimonies. So that’s what I’m doing. This is my testimony.
