The SA Council of Churches has been organizing marches to the department of arts and culture and getting a petition signed. I read an article recently called “The real Face of Jesus”, in Popular Mechanics of all places. It was about a British medical artist, Richard Neave, who created a culturally and historically accurate portrait of Jesus. Interesting read.
It does make me wonder why we picture Jesus a certain way. Do we have a need to see God? Do we need to put Jesus into a box that suits us? Do we need to make him more relatable?
I know I use certain words a lot: amazing, encouraging, awesome. But I really don’t know how else to describe this song. Every believer I know sometimes feels spiritually thirsty and dry. So this is always a necessary song to hear and sing. A real psalm.
…and know that I am God. That’s not the reason for my weeks of silence, just the lesson of my life for the last few months. It’s so easy to get side-tracked by the so-called responsibilities of the Christian life, that Jesus becomes very very small.
